"...flexible and creative while also ensuring a disciplined approach to progress."
Kristin - parent
"We had been looking for a coach for our son for nearly a year when we found Chris. He was able to connect with our teenage son in the middle of COVID and quickly established a rapport with him in a short amount of time. As the pandemic continued, Chris became an important support figure who brought needed structure and also some levity and fun. He is flexible and creative while also ensuring a disciplined approach to progress. We appreciate that Chris is available in between sessions for Zach to connect, when needed, and adapting weekly focus areas based on where he is on that day/week."

"I've never met a provider who understood my daughter so well..."
Ruby - parent
"I've never met a provider who understood my daughter so well, let alone on the first day. The way you communicated with her never put her on the defensive and she was able to open up without hesitation. Everything on your list are things we've been trying to work on with her for so long and yet, I think she'll be able to hear you. I'm so grateful to you and hopeful for the possibilities."
While not all of our clients have ADHD or are autistic, we support many who are. We specialize in addressing executive function challenges that are common for neurodivergent individuals.

"Easy to work with as a parent and 'gets' his clients."
marilyn - parent
"I was so happy when we found out about Life Skills Advocate. My son is Asperger and has struggled with organizing his life and executive skills, even now at 32. With Chris's help, they are figuring out plans to help him be a more responsible person and figure out what is important to him and how to make this happen. We enjoy the newsletters, templates and of course the one-on-one attention. Chris is a very approachable person and knows what he is talking about. Easy to work with as a parent and 'gets' his clients. He has even helped out with my son's manager at work to make that environment run smoothly. One-on-one in this climate is wonderful. Chris has been great at making these sessions comfortable for us, and responds quickly to questions and problems."
Why A Client-Centric Approach?
Why A Relationship-Based Approach?
The short answer is – because it works.
A person-centered approach recognizes the importance of understanding and connecting with each individual on a deeper level.
Research studies (Thomas, 2006) have identified "The Big Four" common factors that contribute to successful change:
- Relationship Factors (30%): Establishing a strong connection between the client and the coach.
- Hope & Expectations (15%): Fostering a sense of optimism and confidence in the process.
- Models & Techniques (15%): Utilizing evidence-based strategies tailored to the individual's needs.
- Extra-therapeutic Factors (40%): Considering the unique circumstances and resources in a person's life.
By focusing on these key elements, our person-centered approach ensures that our coaching is effective and genuinely resonates with the people we serve.

Frequently Asked Questions
Executive Function Coaching helps individuals improve their mental processes such as organization, time management, task initiation, attentional control, self-monitoring and others across real-life contexts such as school, work and daily life.
With coaching and compassionate accountability in tandem, clients can expect to achieve not only better performance in these areas, but also a better relationship with themselves and others, as well as a more in-depth understanding of how their brain and nervous system works.
At Life Skills Advocate, we also prioritize our clients' emotional regulation as it pertains to executive functioning and understand the emotional ripple effect it can have on overall quality of life.
Our coaches are trained to recognize the emotional impacts of executive dysfunction and use informed and evidence-based approaches and lived experience with neurodivergence to help clients manage their struggles.

The first step in our coaching process is to schedule a complimentary 30-minute discovery meeting to discuss your or your child's specific needs and goals. If coaching seems like a good fit, we then arrange a complimentary meet-and-greet to match you or your child with the right coach.
While our coaching program is not bound by a fixed duration, we recommend a minimum commitment of 12 weekly sessions to see meaningful change. However, the exact length of coaching varies based on individual goals and situations.
In the early sessions, we may use various assessment tools, including executive functioning assessments, readiness to change assessments, motivation scales, and "getting to know you" questionnaires. These assessments help us tailor the coaching experience to your or your child's unique needs.
Once paired with a coach, you or your child will participate in sessions customized to their needs. The process starts with setting clear goals and creating a coaching roadmap. Each session is designed to reflect on progress, address challenges, and practice strategies with your coach's guidance.
Depending on your situation, we may encourage parental or family involvement. This could include semi-regular meetings between you, your family, and the coach to ensure alignment throughout the process, adjust strategies based on input, and prepare everyone to support progress once coaching concludes.
Additionally, if needed, our coaches provide gentle accountability check-ins throughout the week to help you or your child stay on track and make progress in the desired areas.
At Life Skills Advocate, our coaches bring a wealth of diverse experiences to their roles. Each coach has personal lived experience with neurodivergence, which allows them to connect deeply with the students and families they work with
Professionally, our coaches come from a range of coaching or coaching-adjacent fields, including special education, mental health counseling & social work, among others.
We also provide comprehensive internal training and regular professional development to ensure that our coaches are equipped with the latest tools and strategies to support our clients effectively.
